HIKING IN CAPPADOCIA AND TAURUS

In the south of Turkey, bordering the Mediterranean, the Taurus mountains are a remarkable region of mysterious beauty, with peaks and summits reminiscent of the Dolomites. The human aspect is not the least interesting, and the discovery of the Yorüks plunges us even deeper into the lives of the great nomads of Cappadocia... Just an hour from Taurus, at over 1000m altitude, the Cappadocia plateau lies in the heart of Anatolia. The history of Cappadocia begins in the Tertiary era, when highly active volcanoes first dumped ash and lapili, then later a protective layer of basalt. Over several million years, this crust dried out and turned into a soft, porous rock: tuff. Wind, sand and water have eroded, sculpted and twisted columns, towers and fairy chimneys into fantastic shapes. We'll stop here before entering the mountain world. . We ourselves will be much more than spectators, amazed by our snowshoes and our efforts, we'll have the privilege of entering the setting and tasting its most subtle corners. After just three days, you'll be able to taste all the charm. Hospitable, the Turks are proud of their past but resolutely turned towards the modern world. A complete discovery of Turkey and its mountains...

In summer, at mid-morning, the shadows on the mosque’s carved stone portal, facing east, reveal the Head of a Crowned Woman. According to legend, the mosque’s architect fell in love with the daughter of Sanjak Bey, the governor of Niğde. Unable to marry her, he preferred to carve the portal so that her portrait would be visible when the sunlight shaded the door. Dinner and overnight at the charming hotel.
